Windows XP Sounds

S

Squidward

Can somebody tell me where in the Windows registry I can find the references
to 'Sounds' assigned to different program events (I.E Windows Shutdown etc)
as displayed in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in Control Panel.

I have in the list of sounds references to programs that have since been
uninstalled but have failed to have been removed and would like to remove
them manually. I'm using XP Pro.

Cheers

Rob

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\[pick a
folder...they're various system events that can be assigned
sounds]\.Current

and

HKEY_USERS\.Default\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\[pick a
folder...they're various system events that can be assigned
sounds]\.Current

On the right hand side will be an entry for "Default" with a data value
set to whatever wav file Windows is using for that event. If it's
blank, then there's no sound assigned to that event
