Windows XP slow login

I have a Windows XP Pro machine that logs in to a Windows 2000 domain. A few
weeks ago it started taking a long time to apply the system settings while
logging in. It takes at least two minutes after I press 'enter' to log in
before the desktop comes up. It is connected to a router before the hub that
the rest of the network is connected to. I have, however connected directly
into the hub bypassing the router with the same results. Other computers on
the network work fine. Once logged in this computer seems to work fine. I
have manually set tcp/ip addresses to include dns servers with no change.
The other computers are all dhcp. I have set the dns to the server and it
logs in fast but will not get out through the router. If I set the server as
the secondayry dns server then it will get out through the
router but still takes a long time to log in. I have set dns settings
within the router as well with no luck. I have scanned for spyware, adware
and virus'. I removed Windows XP sp2 with no change. The event manager
states that it can't reach the server. Event ID 1053. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.
