Windows XP shutdown

Aljos

I have been running Windows XPon a new machine since
February 2003.

I can not shutdown the machine using the Windows start
button and going directly to "ShutDown""option.

I have to go to the logoff option and choose "shutdown
this computer from that screen.

Does anyone know of a fix ?

If you want a icon the desktop to shutdown you can try this.

right click on the desktop -> new -> text document -> name it
shutdown.bat -> right click document -> edit -> copy the contents of the
quotes "shutdown -s" -> save and exit.

Hope this helps.
