shut down and hourglass sticks..

Hi there,

When I go to shutdown or restart the computer by using the Start - Turn off
Computer procedure or the Ctrl-Alt-Del - Shutdown/restart method, the
computer sticks in hourglass mode for a good couple of minutes before the
option window for Restart/Shutdown comes up. Then when it's in the "Windows
is shutting down" screen, it hangs there. Then I have to press the reset
button.

That's the only thing wrong with this machine, otherwise it's great....

Any fixes for this, please?
