After I upgraded to Windows XP; my shutdown command has
been behaving like a restart. After I issue the shutdown
command the system goes down and then restarts back up.
How do I renistate the original functionality of
shutdown.

This is caused by your computers inability to support Advanced Power Management. Go to your Control Panel and Power Options. You will see a tab called APM (Advanced Power Management). Uncheck the box. The downfall will probably be that when you shut down, you will now get a screen that says it's safe to turn off your computer. Then you'll have to hit the power button. There really is nothing else you can do.
