Windows XP SP2 Shudown program

F

fred

Windows XP SP2, I am using the shutdown.exe program provided by Microsoft,
to shutdown and restart a PC in the morning, and have set up a shortcut to
it so I can just click it when I am ending my remote desktop connection. PC
doesn't always let me back in on remote desktop if I don't reboot it.

I use the command

shutdown -r -f

-r is shutdown and restart, -f is force running apps to close

now I am getting an error

The device is not ready

It also doesn't seem to want to run at scheduled time either.

You might want to further look at why you are having a problem with Remote
Desktop as that should not be an ongoing problem. Beyond that take a look at
the free PsShutdown from SysIntenrals which seems to work better then
shutdown in some cases such as Scheduled Tasks. --- Steve
