Windows XP setup partition

I installed XP home on my sisters PC last night. During the install in copied the installation programs to the hard drive and when you rebooted it asks which version of Windows you want - XP or XP setup. How do you get rid of this ? I thought the install would deleted the setup version after it was done.

It does.. If you let it finish the upgrade.
It sounds like it has not finished.

Usually, if you see that menu (with Windows XP Setup as a choice), one thing
has happened, you have an incomplete install. Whether you started the
install, it copied the files and you SAW the menu on the next boot and
thought it finished and chose the old OS or if you installed once and
somehow started the installation again.

What you have not said is what happens if you select the Windows XP Setup
option? (With the CD in the drive, obviously.) It doesn't seem like it has
finished its job as it should erase that from the BOOT.INI filke when it
does.

If it does nothing (as is possible, seeing the article below) - then simply
choose the Windows XP option in the next boot and edit the C:\BOOT.INI file
and remove the offending entry and set the remaining entry to default..

Hopefully, one or the other method will get you out of this. However,
suddenly I feel like I am in a James Bond flick... Stanley.. Shenan
