windows xp setup message popup

after installing a windows update. When booting windows
xp pro (as soon as the desktop loads) a popup window
titled "windows xp setup" appears with the
message "please go to the control panel to install and
configure system components". There is no other
explanation for the message. Microsoft's knowledge base
has no reference to anything similar.


HELP!!
