Hello,

first of all, our machines (not only one) are working fine with windows xp
service pack 1 and GoBack3.

Now we have to update our machines to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Symantec
wrote, that GoBack3 wont work correctly with Windows XP Service Pack 2, so we
bought GoBack4.

Now the problem !!!

If we update our machines to Service Pack 2 and Install GoBack4 the cpu
will start the first time absolutely correct. The next time (after we
shutdown the system) the System wont come up, cause the System wont come up
and will reboot and reboot again.

Microsoft wrote, that it would be the best to deinstall GoBack. But thats
the second problem. Our whole company is using GoBack to make images of our
system and was working fine until now.

Someone can help ?

I'm using GoBack 4 with Windows XP Home SP2 with no problems. A couple
questions:

Is this happening on one computer only? If so, have you tried it one more
than one computer?

Exactly waht is happening when you boot with GoBack 4 installed?

Have you talked to Symantec about it?

In my personal opinion the words "Symantec" and "work correctly" are
mutually exclusive.

If you really need GoBack then a couple of things to try.

1. Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the Startup
and Recovery window click on the checkbox for "automatically restart"
to clear it. Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit. That should
stop the reboot cycle behavior from GoBack but it will likely be
replaced by a Blue Screen Of Death STOP error. If that happens then
the contents of the BSOD, including the STOP code, all 4 parameters,
and any file or module names mentioned will be a direct clue as to the
underlying cause of your problems. You should refer this BSOD data
to Symantec Tech Support as it is almost certainly their problem. Also
post it back here as someone may have the solution for you.

2. Are you uninstalling GoBack3 completely before you do the SP2
upgrade and install of GoBack4? Given the proven shoddy performance
of Symantec uninstallers it is likely that you need to take some
supplemental steps to actually get GoBack3 removed from your machine,
including manually searching for and deleting any leftover files and
folders from GoBack. Symantec puts these into every nook and cranny
of your hard drive.

Good luck
