Before my husband installed the XP service pack/security update our laptop
was running fine. It was fast and I was able to use the internet without
problem. However after this pack was installed, our CPU usage shot up from
under 30% to 100% and everything on our computer runs extremely slow and we
are having a lot of problems using the internet and getting any type of video
or music to run on our computer.
I went to uninstall the service pack and a message appeared saying it could
not unstall it because there was a file missing.
My question is: Is there any way to get rid of the service pack update stuff
without having to wipe the computer and reinstall windows and end up losing
all of our files? And if not is there anything I can do to make the computer
run faster? We've tried clearing the internet cache, going to the task
manager and removing un-necessary processes and nothing seems to help.
