Windows XP Service Pack 2 does not recognize Realtek ALC850 audio

Hi, I am trying to talk to Asus also about this problem. My mobo is a Asus
A8N-SLI and I have all the latest BIOS, motherboard and audio drivers.
Windows does not even recognize my Realtek ALC850 integrated audio chip. Is
this a Windows issue or a Realtek issue or an Asus issue ? Thanks in advance

More than likely it is a bum sound card(chipset if integrated into the
motherboard.)
That is *if* the said sound card latest drivers (downloaded from the
manufacturer's web site) have been installed and still nothing.
