Windows XP Security Center

Ever since I upgraded to Norton 2007, my Security Center needs to be started
each time I turn on my computer. When I start the computer up, the Center is
"disabled". It never did this before: it always stayed on (automatic).

I believe it is disabled by default by Norton especially if you are using
NIS 2007.
I believe that I read that somewhere.
It works fine for me especially using SP2.

philb13,

Go to Start > Run. Type services.msc and click OK. Check Security
Center and make sure if the Startup Type is set to Automatic. NIS
shouldn't turn this service off since Security Center monitors the
following if they're on: Firewall, Automatic Updates and Antivirus
Protection.

It is often a misconception that the "security center" provides security. In
fact, it's just a nagscreen to remind errant users that they haven't attended
to security matters. Thus, if you understand the need for AV, firewall etc
it's superfluous anyway.

I would also advise you to change to a better antivirus product. Norton will
give you nothing but grief. As will McAfee. Those are the two to AVOID!

I also use SP2, but still have to start the Center each time. I do have NIS
2007 & would love to find where you read that. Thank you.

The automatic choice I make no longer retains. i have to select automatic
each time because disabled is on. Help!
