Windows XP security center alert settings aren't preserved

I use Zonealarm and am quite happy with it. Trouble is
that Windows Firewall keeps popping up an annoying alert
about not detecting my other firewall's status every time
I boot up. I thought... "no problem, I'll just turn off
the alert message in the security center". That's where I
began getting a bit upset.

I've tried disabling the firewall alert settings in the
security center so that I don't get the nag message every
time but the new security center settings don't seem to be
kept from boot to boot.

This bug, if it is a bug, is very unfair to other firewall
solution providers since it results in "nag screens" for
non-microsoft products.. It's nice and all that you want
to include a firewall capability in your OS, but you
shouldn't cause me to configure the security center every
time I boot the machine just to keep the settings I want.

If you don't want to use the windows firewall, disabled it through command
line command "netsh firewall set opmode mode=disable".

Hi

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot (a bug it looks like), you can do the following
to disable the Security Center and avoid the nagging:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.
