windows xp restarts while trying to download exe from internet

i hv formatted my pc recently n installed win xp. Now when i connect
to internet and dwonload any exe , pc restarts.
But i can download other file types like .mp3,.doc,.zip.
If the exe is a zip file i can download it but i cant download an exe
directly.

If any of you have a solution to this problem, pls help me out with
it.

Do another fresh installation of Windows, then install a good
virus scanner ***before*** connecting your machine to the
Internet.
