I had a computer crash recently. (Yes, I suppose I deserve it. I was
'bad.') This happened on Tuesday, but I was too busy at work yesterday
(outside office) to do anything about it until now.
Anyway, my computer froze up solid and I couldn't warm boot or reset.
The only way I could turn the computer off was to unplug it. (Yes, I
know that was bad, but I was desperate -- I had work to do.)
Since then, I'm having trouble with any program that relies on a
'Browse' feature. Plus, when I'm using Windows Explorer, it seems to be
quite messed up. I suspect the explorer.exe file was corrupted...
Is there a simple 'repair' feature for Windows XP? Or any other option
that would allow me to fix this one file?
I do a lot of work from my home office. And I'm on a major project
during May that has a heavy (looming) deadline -- so it's not a great
time for my computer to go in the shop to my tech. (Obviously I'll do
that if necessary, though!)
I had thought maybe I could just copy the explorer.exe file from the
computer it's networked to, but that didn't work. (You people already
know that, of course. Windows XP won't let us overwrite system
files...)
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
