windows xp relogin problem

When I leave my computer inactive for a period of time or if I use the switch
user option, it goes to the Welcome Screen where you select the users. My
recent problem is that now when it goes to the Welcome Screen, I can't log
back into my account using the correct password. In fact, the computer
automatically sets passwords on all accounts (even the ones that normally
don't have a password) and for the ones that do have a password, it changes
it or something so I am never able to log back in to anyone of the accounts
with passwords using the actual password. The only solution I've found is
that if I restart the computer, then I am able to log in with my correct
password, but as long as I switch user or I get temporarily logged off cause
of inactivity, then I am not able to log back in to xp again unless I
restart. I am not sure what the deal is
