Windows XP Reboots itselfs at Logon Screen.

Dear ALL:

Before i format the all thingy and reinstall Windows XP again, i would like
seek some advice from you guys out there.

The Problem:
1) Windows boots up and arrive at the logon screen,
2) Click on the sqaure button to logon
3) system reboots ...

this goes on and on and on ...

anyway to overcome this problem?

Hello Pang,

You need to make some tweaking in Safe Mode. Then exit, restart again in Normal mode, you are likely to see a STOP error.
Write the whole STOP message down , and do some research.

Restart the pc, and then start tapping, and repeat tappinf the F8 Function key to get to choose Safe Mode.

Then do the following:
Turn off "reboot on error" setting for Windows.

Go to My Computer, then select Properties. Select the "Advanced" TAB and
in the Startup and Recovery section click the "Settings" button.
At System Failure block,
"Un-check" the "Automatically restart" line. Apply change, make clean exit.

This will prevent a "reboot on error", and will also show (when you have Windows exception) the error code and its description.

IF a STOP error occurs, write down its number and complete description and follow up on fixes.

If Normal mode of Windows is still "re-booting" itself, reboot pc & tap the F8 Function key to select SAFE Mode, then do steps above.
