Windows Xp Professional Upgrade

I upgraded an Dell Optiplex 400 computer from Windows 98SE to Windows XP Professional. In trying to use the search button on the start menu it does not access the search results page anymore after the upgrade from Windows 98SE O/S? Does anyone have an answer to this question? If so, it would be greatly appreciated.
