Everyday I power up my notebook IBM Thinkpad R40 with
Windows XP Pro sp1, before I could login to the system,
it keep on re-boot (after showing a blue screen).
It repeating for 5 to 6 times before I can start login.

Any idea what wrong with the system?

I has a similar problem, and have an R40 also, I was told
a recent update may have been the cause, I was told to
try rebooting and getting the PC into DOS mode, then
run "chkdsk /f" (with no quotes". For some reason the
allocated files are not being recognized in the boot
process and need to be moved by check disk. However
before learning this this tip, I originally fixed this by
using the XP disks, Boot from disk and do a Repair, the
one drawback from that was it removed Service Pack 1. So
you'll need to update getting SP1 installed again.

Can you boot to safe mode and turn off "reboot on failure" (Start > right
click my computer > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > uncheck
'automatically restart'). If you can, post the resulting STOP code here.

Alternatively, find it yourself here http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm.
