Windows XP Professional Reinstall

A

Alex

I recently reformatted my C:\ drive and reinstalled
Windows XP Professional with the Official Disk which came
with my Alienware PC. (The drive was Windows XP before
reformatting, it wasn't a different OS before)

Now I have 2 accounts - The account Windows asks you to
create on Startup, and one it created itself, named
Administrator. Administrator logs on automatically on
startup, and I log off to access my account. The
administrator account cannot be seen on the login window,
and it cannot be deleted. (You delete the account and it
just remakes itself on startup.)

Is there any way of removing this administrator account
so that my account is the only one on this computer? I
have tried reinstalling Windows XP Professional many
times and it always has this problem.

Please help,

Yours Sincerely,

Alex

The administrator account is a built in account and should never be
deleted. If you want to always log on using your account, you can add a
password to it. This will cause the sign on screen to show up at boot
and you would need to enter your password.

Another option is to install TweakUI. This program has an option for
always signing on using the same account.

I'm afraid it's a little bit different to how you think
it seems. If I password my account, that will make no
difference at all, the administrator account will still
logon. Both accounts are computer administrators (I
should have mentioned this before), so it is not like I
am trying to remove the only admin account. If I password
the admin account, the computer will not start up as it
won't be able to access the main admin account.

Thanks for your help, but with this new information maybe
someone knows what is going on.

Thanks,

- Alex
