i installed a new hard drive (western digital 120GB) and i am trying to
install windows xp professional, after partitioning the hard drive and
starting the installation,it comes to the part of setup where i am asked to
format the partition in question which i did, when formatting start the
computer shuts down and display an error message something like :
PAGE-FAULT-IN-NONPAGED-AREA.
I tried to repeat the installation few other times hoping after shutting
down the computer and starting over again things will go smoothly, but i kept
getting the same error message.

WD has software that you download and use to make a boot floppy and then it
sets up the hard drive correctly. It's called Data Lifeguard. Try it first.

Did you use the correct cable for the new hard drive. Make sure this is
addressed and then swap out your memory if you have more than one stick.
Make sure everything is securely pressed into the connections. This kind of
problem is usually hardware related. Remove everything except the keyboard,
mouse and video.
If setup is successful, reinstall devices one at a time. This will catch the
problem hardware.
