My XPS 600 crashed. It runs (Ran?) windows xp prof. I am at the stage of
reinstall where I need to insert a cd with "Windows XP Service Pack 2". I
have downloaded the compressed file from MSN to my laptop that is running xp
home. I have tried to extract the file to formated CD's but as soon as I
designate a drive the extraction stops with no error message. I have tried
to download svcpk 2 for xp prof but can't download it to my laptop. Do I
need to use a pc with xp prof to do this or can I purchase the disks? Any
advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, DennisB

Why download it from msn, even though its part of microsoft, its not microsoft,
even at that windows update should be youre place of upgrading. If that
doesnt work,you can obtain a cd with SP2 from microsoft (free),try search,im
sure you'll locate it or try xps home page, scroll the links.

Thanks. The past good luck with Dell has made me stupid but the XPS will get
me back on track. DennisB

Actually I am not trying to upgrade. The reinstall needs svcpk 2. Thanks
for the response. DennisB
