Windows XP problems

I have a couple of questions.

1) I was trying to use the Windows backup and when I attempt to run the
Automated System Recovery Wizard I get the error "The Files for the recovery
disk could not be created. Operation was aborted.". I have plenty of disk
space and a empty floppy so why does this not work?

2) Every so often one of my printer drivers hold on to my serial port and
won't let go. The only way to use it for something else is to delete the
port in device manager and then rescan for new hardware. Is there a way so
that I don't have to do this?

1)
NOTE: ASR (Automated System Restore) does not function and is not supported
on Windows XP Home edition.

An Error Message Is Displayed When You Attempt to Use the Automated System
Recovery Wizard

2)
Two thoughts:
Stop whatever printer processes that are running using Task Manager.
Kill spoolsv.exe (Print Spooler service) using Task Manager.

Betcha it's an HP printer!
