Windows XP Pro SP2 Logon Screen

S

smh

I have Dell Dimension E510 1g RAM, 160G HD, running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Just recently started having trouble when system reboots. Starts XP, then
instead of stopping at the logon screen, it beeps, flashes the logon screen
for just 0.5 seconds or so then goes to blue "starting windows screen"
sometimes takes 3-4 minutes to get back to the logon screen where it says
"couldn't log user on" then I click on the user enter password and
everything seems to be fine.

Any suggestions on whazzzzup? I do share the pc with two others, [wife and
son] neither of their user accounts are administrative so they only have
limited rights, and you need a password to access my user account which has
administrative rights.

Thanks for any/all help.

Have you done a thorough scan for malware using a combination of
