Windows XP Pro & Norton Internet Security

One finds a lot of mindless bashing of Norton Internet Security [NIS] on
USENET.

But NIS [2005 or 2006] does consume a significant chunk of System Resources
to do its multiple tasks.

I've been using Norton/Symantec products for over 15 years with excellent
results.

But do the experts have some helpful recommendations for tweaking and
grooming in order to make the system run faster and more efficiently?

If one is also running Microsoft Windows Defender, are there other useful
tweaks one can profitably make?

Thanks.

DSH,

The reply from Mike is on the money; trash Norton! Get products that do not
hog system resources.

Additionally, there is no way to put Norton products on a diet and system
performance will suffer when using them.
