Windows XP Pro Missing printer

Hi,
i'm, using a hp deskjet3420 which was running ok. now,
there's no printer when i look in the control
panel/printers&faxes.
i tried to manually reintall but wizard keeps asking ne
to unplug and plug the printer cable, doesn't help.
then, i restarted the computer, at startup it tried to
detect new hardware then displayed the message 'rpc
server not found'
pls help

Try restarting the print spooler. From the command prompt, type

net start spooler

and hit enter
