Windows xp pro login problems

My wife and I each have our own settings.The problem is this:If I am in
my settings and we switch to hers we type in the password and it
doesn't recognize it.Then if I type in my password it doesn't recognize
mine either.We have to reboot.Then either one of us can enter our
password to get in.We had a virus which was successfuly removed from my
system.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks in advance

Sounds like when you first start up, something is not running and so
you can login. Then some startup program kicks in and prevents you
from doing a logoff then log back in. I may be completely wrong, but
if I am right then your virus may still be there.

Google "a really small app", download it, and see what sort of
startups you have - maybe that will give you a clue. If you're not
sure you can post the results back here.
