Hi,

I have a situation where I am helping my friend streamline his home
network. He has three computers all of which came with Windows XP Pro.
The problem is, in the event of reinstallation, he has to go through the
whole process of installing the XP Pro and other software (mainly
Firefox, thunderbird, gsview and ghostscript, PS printer drivers,
ad-aware, spybot, AVG antivirus, etc.). However, the most tedious part
is the Windows SP2 installation and updating it afterwords.

Is it possible to make a CD/DVD which includes Windows XP Pro, SP2 and
all the updates but not the product key? In other words, have a CD/DVD
that when inserted in the drive installs Win XP Pro, SP2 and all the
updates automatically but asks for *only* the product key?

Sam.

The product key id irrelevant to what you need, as any key will work with
any install disk that is the same for that particular key (IOWa, a key for
Retail Pro, will work for all retail Pro, and so on).

What you need is to make a slipstreamed version of XP with SP2, and this can
be done.

You can do this yourself through these instructions:

Or, download this cool proggy, and it will do it for you:

Create a new Windows XP CD with SP2 slipstreamed.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:
