Windows XP Pro file search .sql

I need to be able to search directories for files containing specific text. The Search function appears to be incapable of scanning files with extension .sql. The files with .sql extensions can be considered as text files. As a test, I renamed one of my .sql files as .txt and the search was successful. How can I add .sql to the list of known file extensions?

Hi Steve,

Try to go to Windows Explorer, Tools > Folder options > File types
click on 'new' and add the extension sql and put notepad as the
program you want to open it with.

Good luck

I appreciate the suggestion, but sql is already a registered file type associated with notepad. Any more ideas

Thanks, Parish! That works great. I had tried microsoft.com but I guess I wasn't searching for the right topic
