How do I tell when Windows XP Pro was last activated. I'm looking for
a date, so I known when the 120 days are up. so I can upgrade my
computer and them reactivate it.

1. Open XP's "Help and Support" and click on "Use Tools to view your computer info....."
2. Click on "Get information about your computer.
3. Then click on "View the status of my system hardware and software"
and look under "System Software - Date Created".

Hi,
There is no need to wait 120 days. You may reactivate with the retail CD.
And there is also provision of telephone activation.

You can upgrade and activate as often and as much as is necessary, no need
to wait 120 days. Depending upon what and how much you upgrade you may not
need to activate again. If it triggers activation, it still may be nothing
more than a handshake between two computers over the Internet. If you
exceed the hardware threshold, then instead of a handshake over the
Internet, you sill be directed to a phone number to call wherein you tell
them what you've done and they give you a new activation code.

They only want to be sure XP hasn't been moved to a new computer.

Dont worry so much. MS will get you activated after the upgrade.

This may not be the date of activation (for the purposes of the 120 day
rule) if:

The user used some of the 30 days after that before activating
or
had to activate subsequently without doing a reinstall - eg if after
changing hardware it had to be reactivated by phoning in.
