Windows XP Preinstalled *HELP!*

Tom Legge

I have 3 PCS, 2 of which are downstairs with XP preinstalled. My PC
upstairs is on Windows ME. I wish to make an XP disk from the XP files
downstairs with which to install Windows XP on the computer upstairs.
How do I go about doing this?

Buy a legal version of XP.

You can use one of the other XP cd's to install XP on the ME machine,
but you'll have to buy an additional license. It's easier just to go to
the store and buy another retail copy of whatever flavor XP you want
(Pro or Home). You can use an upgrade version since you already have
ME.

How does your reply relate to what the OP is asking?
The answer is no.

Actually, it's much cheaper to go to price and buy a license only for the
version of XP you need. I say an upgrade version for ME to XP since you have
a legit version of ME. Format your drive and do a fresh install of a cd made
from the c:\i386 folder on your current XP machines.

Enjoy!

on another computer as long as Microsoft so declares. That's lousy,
because we all have more than one computers. But we live with the good
and the bad at every turn in life!

Nothing against you personally but.....

It's neither illegal, immoral or unethical. It's a violation of
Microsoft's EULA. Or are you saying MS sets the standard for what's
legal, moral, and ethical?

Go to www.microscum.com and read.

You don't. Apart from anything else, the windows on those machines was
supplied solely for use on them. You need an XP Upgrade CD - probably
Home Edition.
