XP does not have a built-in program to block popups. You could download something like "Popup Stopper" (www.panicware.com) or maybe Google Toolbar (toolbar.google.com), both of which work rather well for me.

Greetings --

For regular Internet pop-ups, you might try the free 12Ghosts
Popup-killer from http://12ghosts.com/ghosts/popup.htm, Pop-Up Stopper
from http://www.panicware.com/, or the Google Toolbar from
http://toolbar.google.com/. A few weeks ago, I decided to try the
free Google Toolbar, and have been very pleased with the results.

Along with the popup blockers and Google toolbar, you might want to take a
look at CrazyBrowser. It is NOT an IE plugin, it is a separate browser
that uses the IE engine, and has many nice features, like multiple tabbed
windows, auto-open of groups of pages, and a very nice popup blocker.
See www.crazybrowser.com for more info.

Hope this helps, and, as always, your mileage may vary,

MildBill
