Windows XP OneCare-beta

Hello: quick backround, I have a Dell desktop 4400, about 3 1/2 yrs old,
currently have SP1 installed. Awhile back tried to install SP2 on-line once
and by CD once, both times had to have Dell Tech support reformat my computer
after crashing. Now that the new Windows OneCare-beta is available I tried to
download but was advised my system needs SP2. Apparently my computer has
major problems after SP2 installed so I'm very leary to try and reinstall. Is
there any info someone could pass on to me on how to safely install SP2.
Thanks, Gilbert (P.S. I've shutdown my virus and antispyware before
installing.)

I tried the beta, and it crashed on a PC that is currently updated to just
before the SP2, and has all the other updates. It just quit (lockup) in the
middle of a what is the machine sequence.

Hello Chuck: Thanks for your input regarding OneCare-beta, thats what I am
afraid could happen to me with installation of SP2, crash! The more I have
thought about it I will probably stay with the safety features I now have
installed since my PC is working fine. Gilbert
