Windows XP on top of ME?

I have a laptop computer running Windows XP Professional, but when I bought
it (a while ago) it came with Windows ME installed. The XP software I own is
the full version, but I am pretty sure that when I bought it I just used the
upgrade function. I have reformatted this hard drive once, but I can't
remember if it was before I owned XP. So, how do I find out if I am running
XP on top of ME? If so, is this ill-advised? (Is the fact that my hard drive
is partitioned with Fat 32 and not NTFS a clue?)

Yes the fat 32 would likely indicate it was an upgrade and you would most
likely have the uninstall file located in the Windows folder.
Nothing ill-advised about running the upgrade over Me. If you are not having
problems, leave it.
You might want to free up the space used by the uninstall files by going to
Disk Cleanup and allow the uninstall files to be removed.
Look in Help and Support for more on Disk Clean up.

First, the phrase "running XP on top of ME" isn't really accurate. Even if
you upgraded from Me, that doesn't result in running XP on top of it. In
fact, an upgrade to XP replaces almost everything in the previous operating
system.

If so, is this
ill-advised?

Not at all. In fact the upgrade normally goes very well, in large part
because, as I said, it replaces almost everything.

Are you having problems? If not, what is your concern?

Yes, that makes it more likely that you upgraded. However, you could have
done a clean installation and chosen to use FAT32.
