Clean install of XP

During a clean install of XP I did not get the option of
FAT 32, only NTFS, the hard drive I was using is 40G.
When I partitioned the hard drive (25/15) I got the option
of FAT 32. I want to use the entire hard drive in FAT 32
without partitions. How do I get the choice of FAT 32 on a
clean install?

Windows XP will not create FAT32 partitions greater than 32 gigs.

Limitations of the FAT32 File System in Windows XP

If you insist on having a FAT32 partition greater than 32 gigs for use in
Windows XP, you must create it yourself using FDisk from an older version of
Windows (there is a link within the above webpage that will explain how to
do this).

XP will not create or format a partition bigger than 32 GB in FAT 32.
If you want to do so (and I advise against it) you need to do it with
some other system - eg FDISK and Format from booting a Win98 startup
floppy

Windows XP will not create a FAT32 partition larger than 32GB.
However it will use one if if finds it there.

So, if you want to do this, first create it using fdisk from
Windows 98 or Me. However my advice is to use NTFS, which is much
better, especially for large drives.

This choice does not come up on a raw disk or if NTFS is
already there. Use a W98SE bootdisk and run FDISK to
partition the drive no format. The 4 choices will then appear
during install.
