Do you have an HP by any chance?
It's possible, depending on how much damage was done, that you mean need
to start over again with a clean install after all.
Also, your initial post was not too clear. Need some clarification,
specifically:
"I have a computer, not mine" ... what does this mean?
In order to get the best quality advice in this newsgroup, it's best to
give as much information as you possibly can. For example:
- make and model of PC
- specific symptoms
- what methods you used to combat viruses, spyware, etc.
- version of XP on PC (Home or Pro or MCE, Retail or OEM)
