THE COMPUTER WAS SHUT DOWN NORMALLY LAST NIGHT. AFTER START UP I WENT
TO WINDOWS EXPLORER AND THERE WAS NO D:/ DRIVE SO I TRIED TO OPEN IT
AND IT WOULDN'T OPEN. THE COMPUTER IS NOT ON WARRANTY
1) Lose the caps. It's considered yelling, is incredibly rude and makes
your posts very hard to read.
2) What is the "D drive"? It's not the same on everybody's computer. On
mine it's a secondary partition on my primary hard drive. I'm going to
assume it's some kind of optical.
3) Have you checked the device manager to see if it's recognised there?
If it is, is it showing an error? If so, what?
4) Visit
www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm and download
the registry patch (you may need to reboot after running). Does that restore
the drives?
These are only general pointers, you've not really given anyone enough to go
on to enable us to assist you further. Please post back (observing the
proper nuances of written English and netiquette) with more information, and
someone will doubtless be able to assist you further.
