Hi,
I installed a new philips spc620nc webcam and its software from the
CD.Now I cannot boot into Xp sp2 anymore after restarting. After the
logon screen the loading halts completely and stays there. However i
can login safe mode.I've uninstalled the hw drivers and the Philips
vlounge software ,still can't boot into Xp now. Is the system files/
registry corrupted ? How can I recover ? Don't have a sys restore
point ( disabled it after virus attacks ) !!

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options inWindowsXPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/en-us

Hope  this helps.

Are you getting the RPC Server error when you attempt to boot using the
Last Known Good Configuration option or when trying to run System File
Checker?

You can access Services in Safe mose using Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, Services. As far as I am aware you should only
have one Remote Procedure Call (RPC) entry in Services. Are you sure
there are two entries as there are other services with similar names.
Does the service show as Started? Is the Start Up type set as automatic?

The path to the executable should appears as
C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k rpcss. If you have two Remote Procedure
Call (RPC) entries are they matching duplicates?

Has the computer from new always been Windows XP?

What appears in Event Viewer for an attempted boot into normal mode?

You will have to examine Event Viewer in safe mode so make a note of the
exact time you try to boot into normal mode. You will get other
confusing Reports in Safe Mode which you need to disregard.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer relating to the last boot in
normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate
which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.
