Windows XP not allowing access at application layer.

We recieved a message saying that Windows XP is no longer
allowing access from the application layer to the
internet. This has stopped e-mail, internet explorer and
all other access. We can ping out to the dns and the e-
mail server but cannopt connect. Does anybidy have any
idea what happened and how to foix this?

WHat did you install (3d party firewall, AV software, 3d party dialers) ?
Sounds like WINSOCK catalog is corrupted.
