Windows XP mouse moving automatically to the left side of the scre

Recently my mouse is going weird that it will go automatically to the left of
screen even i am not touching it at all. i am afraid what has happened, is
there anybody who can help me fix it?

Do you have an optical mouse? Because that is what mine does sometimes, it
drifts towards the left.

What type of mouse ? Wired/wireless /.........?

If an optical mouse, place it on a dull surface, preferably one with a
porous surface. Even a sheet of white paper would be better than smooth
paint, e.g.; the mouse needs to "see" the movement under it.

A piece of waxed paper works wonderfully! It even has the added benefit
of allowing the mouse to glide more smoothly too.
