Windows XP Login username change

Hi,

I changed my username on the login screen with control
panel, and now I can't log on to my profile. I don't have
another profile for that XP bootup, so I installed another
on the same laptop to do my work. How to I gain access to
my original profile if I have the password, changed the
username, but Windows XP never changed the Profile
directory and won't let me have access rights to change it?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, since I
have all of my important documents only in My Documents
since I had just transferred my files to the laptop and
destroyed the backups before having a chance of backing
them up elsewhere. I also disabled Sys Recovery because I
don't have a large HD.

Try starting your computer in safe mode, by pressing F8
on start up and log on as administrator, then go into
control panel and make your changes then restart<<<tell
me if that works<<<
