Windows XP login screen and Outlook 2003

Shamsul Shah

Hello,

I am having problem with the windows XP login screen. Up
until yesterday, the Windows Xp login screen would only
show me the number of unread email messages from my
hotmail acount. But now it's also showing me 1 unread
email from my personal email acount in Outlook 2003 even
though I do not have any unread emails in there. I
deleted the folder from the registry yet when I check for
and read all the new emails using Outlook 2003, it always
shows 1 unread email on the Windows XP login screen. Can
someone please help me with this situation?

Thank you.

I glad to see outlook and the welcome working together. I have outlook xp,
time to upgrade. Anyways, tyr this:
Download and install tweakui for xp and use its repair mail count feature or
use it to turn the mail count off completely.

Or edit the registry and delete the mail accounts you don't want:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

I would rather stay away from the tweakui if possible
and I did delete the mail account from the registry.
However the mail acount is cretaed again in the registry
when I check for new mail.

If you don't want to use tweakui then there must be a setting on outlook
2003 to display the mail count on the welcome screen. Find the option and
turn it off.
