No. An OEM version of XP Home key will only work with that type of CD.

No. The product key is specific for the version of Windows XP
that is installed, including both bios-locked OEM versions and
branded OEM versions. The solutions are: (a) Burn a CD copy of
the OS, per manufacturer's instructions, if not a recovery set;
(b) Buy the branded Windows XP cdrom from the manufacturer, if
available. Or, (c) buy and install your own retail version of
Windows XP.

No, for a couple of reasons.

First of all, there's absolutely no way that you can use a WinXP Pro CD
to convert to or install WinXP Home. Frankly, I can't even begin to
imagine how you might have thought this possible.

Secondly, Product Keys are bound to the specific type and language of
CD/license (OEM, Volume, retail, full, or Upgrade) with which they are
purchased. For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for any
retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and vice
versa. An upgrade's Product Key cannot be used with a full version CD,
and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to install a retail
product. An Italian Product Key will not work with an English CD.
Bottom line: Product Keys and CD types cannot be mixed & matched.

Have you tried to remove any of the pre-installed junk?
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs.
Search down the list of programs, select the ones you don't want and hit
Remove.

You should be able to use your recovery disc to make a windows xp home cd
without all the junk on it. Have a look for a folder called i386. This
contains all the files for the reinstall of windows without all the extra
stuff you dont want. The disc wont be bootable without a lot of extra work
and you will have no setup.exe file so you will need to install from the
command prompt by running winnt32.exe. If you look in the winnt32 help file
you will see all the install options. You could make a more standard setup
CD but it is to complex for me to go into here.
