Hey there,

Ok so I have this problem during re-installation of XP pro.
Every and each time, after formating the hard disk SCAN DISK is engaging.
How can I terminate that operation?

Tnx in advance

Chris

There is no SCAN DISK in XP, but I do know what you mean.. if the disk is
being checked for errors continually, it is because XP is calling the
integrity of the drive into question.. XP is far less tolerant of hardware
errors than it's Win 9x cousins.. you might want to look at getting a new
drive, but before you do that, download and run the HDD manufacturer
diagnostics program..

Run the first two tests, both of which are non destructive.. as long as
there is nothing on the drive worth saving, you might want to run the low
level format options too.. low level formatting detects errors that are
sometimes overlooked by the non destructive tests..

At the end of the day, if you think that your HDD is not quite what it
should be, replace it.. there is little worse than going through a complete
system install, just to find that it crashes out now and again due to HDD
flaws..
