windows xp installation problem?

I downloaded something that made my life hell!!. It was supposed to be a
video but when i clicked on the icon it started to install on the computer.
Now I get pop ups like xxx, dating etc. Then I started getting message's like
your privacy is under threat that could cost you your marriage bla bla. There
are links on my desktop that look just like "windows help and support logo"
but it looks like a fake one ,it keeps coming back even if you delete it. I
am getting two message

1. Buffer over run
2."During a scan of files at system start up, potential errors in the system
registry were found p-07-0100 irql: 1f sysver oxffooo24 NT_Kernel error 1256
KMODE-EXCEPTION_NOT HANDLED.

I ran AvG and even Windows Live Onecare but nothing seems to work. So I
decide to format and install windows again but when I try to a blue screen
appears which says -
Check for viruses. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive
controles. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption
Stop: oxoooooo7b (oxf7c7e63c, oxcooooo34, oxooooooo).
Can someone please help?Thank you

I wouldnt follow Andrews advice, as he's trying to trick you into
losing all your data, cute, no, I would try doing a search at
http://www.download.com for both spybot and adaware, Install, update,
and run those and you'll smile again.

You've picked up an extremely nasty infection, probably one of the variants
of Vundo that you get from installing fake codecs.

If you want to try and clean up the machine, the most efficient thing to do
is to go to one of the following specialty forums, register, and post a
HijackThis log to get guided help. Please do *not* post HJT logs here in
the MS newsgroups.

If you don't want to bother but really do want to format your drive and
start over, you're apparently doing something wrong. Possibly you're trying
to install from within Windows (which isn't possible) but it isn't clear
what you are doing. Here are instructions for doing a clean install of
Windows:

http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows - What
you will need on-hand

Understand that everything on the machine will be gone after a clean
install, so make sure your data is backed up first.
