Windows XP Image using Ghost

Hi,

We use Symantec Ghost to image out PCs and we are on a AD Domain. For a
while now our techs and users have noticed that if they right-click on an
icon on the desktop or a network drive for the first time it hangs for about
15 seconds and then show the pop-up menu. Once the menu shows up and you try
it again, its fine. I checked some forums on the web and one advise me to do
a netstat -a because it could be an IP address the system is searching for
because they used Ghost imaging. I did see a strange IP 167.16.161.92
SYN_SNT but it never reappeared after that.

Any ideas, because it is wreaking havoc all over our plants.

Thanks for your help.

Try using (from the command prompt) ipconfig /release and then: ipconfig
/renew
This show give each ghosted PC it's own IP address.

Thanks for your help but it did not work. If you have any other ideas, I
would be greatful. I do believe however, that it is searching to connect to
something and we are using dhcp.

I don't know if this will help or not. But I've seen this with Mapped drives?
If they have a mapped drive over a WAN this can occur. I normally tell people
don't map the drives just create shortcuts to them. You should only map drives
that are on your lan to prevent these delays.

Check the addresses for the Default Gateway, DHCP and DNS servers.
If any of the PCs are on a different sub-net then the original ghosted PC
then there could be a problem.

The ghost server is not on a non-public network (private) basically, server
to the hub.
