I have a bunch on these listed in my add or remove
programs files, and I am trying to find out what they are
and if it is ok to remove them.
An example of them:

windows xp Hot Fix(sp1)
(see Q309521 for more information)

Each one uses 24.06 MB

These are updates to your OS. They are like recalls for
your car. You would not go to the dealer and have them
remove an installed recall. Leave them there and also
install any new ones that come out!

Those are Microsoft updates. You must have downloaded
them or your computer is set to download updates
automatically. You should keep them as they are updates
to Windows.

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Remove Hotfix Backup Files.

The entries in Add/Remove are in case you need to uninstall a particular
hotfix, if it causes problems with your system. If you don't need to remove
any of the hotfixes, the entries for Add/Remove and the associated backup
files can be removed to free up room on your system.

Those are some of the Window updates that you allow.
You can remove them if they give you problems.
Some do.
