windows xp hotfix

what are these hotfix programs that I see in the
add/remove program area and can I remove them
 
These are the entries for Hotfixes that were installed from Windows Udpdate.
If you remove them from Add/Remove, you remove the Hotfix itself. You can
remove these entries, however, and their associated backup files by going to
www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Remove Hotfix Backup Files.
