Hi all,

I need help from someone who understands what this whole
Windows XP Hotfix thing is all about. I know my computer
very well, and I constanly keep it organized, etc. (I only
keep icons for programs that I use on my desktop and I
delete all the files on my computer that I don't use).

I was deleting the unneccesary programs on my computer
today, and I noticed that I have 12 Microsoft XP Hotfix
programs on my computer. I looked up what Hotfix is
supposed to do, and I've found that it blocks programs
from changing seetings (dll's) and adding programs, etc.

I have had many hackers screw with me because there's
someone who dislikes me immensely because I am in the
works of forming something heavy with her daughter, and
her mother does not like the fact that I cannot and will
not make her richer by paying her for her unbelievably
gorgeous daughter.

Hackers have screwed with my seettings and changed my
ability to access to the internet many times (which makes
me restore my comptuer to a earlier point). When they did
this, Internet Explorer would not load any pages nor would
AOL. Nothing worked on AOL except for my ability to read e-
mail.

I would like to know how I can fix this whole Hotfix crap
on my computer. Many of them can be deleted, but I am
worried about doing so because I don't know how it would
affect my computer. However, there are a few that I cannot
delete. I'm wondering if those are the legitamite Hotfix
programs that came with the computer and the ones that CAN
be deleted were the ones put on my computer by hackers so
they can change my ability to "surf" the net and screw
with my computer. I now have a Firewall, but I think if I
had Hotfix configured correctly, I would have no problems.

I would appreciate any help at all about this problem I
have with this.

No worries,
Doug

No, you should not "uninstall" any "Hotfixes" listed in the
Add or Remove Programs section. They are listed there in case
your computer does not function properly after they are installed.
Uninstalling them will uninstall the actual patch.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.

here's another way.
If the drive is NTFS, the files are normally compressed saving space.
In my system, fat32, I zipped them using max compresion in winzip
then deleted the originals. It saves space, and if I need them later,
I can get them back.

Hot fixes are updates from microsoft, leave them alone.
Your firewall should help with the other problem.
