I installed XP home last month and it appears to have slowed my computer. The only time that I have a problem is when it's booting up. When I do finally get to my desktop screen to launch Internet Explorer, after I hit the Internet Explorer icon, I can go and get a drink during the time that it take to launch internet explorer. Once internet explorer is launched however, there is no problem. I have a cable modem and have no problem with the speed once Internet explorer is launched. Any ideas as to why the program is so slow launching.

What speed is the computer?
How much memory?

Perform a scan using updated ad-aware and spybot.

And go to IE > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced options tab and
disable third-party browser extensions.

Good luck
